Premier League betting – Liverpool face Manchester United as Arsenal take on Tottenham

Liverpool v Manchester United

It is a big weekend in the Premier League as we see two historic derbies as Liverpool take on Manchester United and then later Arsenal host Tottenham in a classic Super Sunday.

We start at Anfield, where the Reds are the only team alongside Spurs to have made the perfect start to the season. Brendan Rodgers’ side might not have big victories against their name, but the two 1-0 wins against Stoke and Aston Villa have seen them play some very good football.

Daniel Sturridge has already struck four times this season for the Reds in league and cup encounters, and the young English striker will once again be expected to lead the line on Sunday. Iago Aspas and Coutinho have also made good starts to the campaign and will cause trouble for the Red Devils.

David Moyes’ side drew 0-0 with Chelsea on Monday, and it looks like now Wayne Rooney will be staying at the club after all. The former Everton manager does not have a great record against Liverpool and while in charge of the Toffees he lost six, and drew seven of his games at Anfield.

This is a difficult game to call, but Both Teams to Score at 1.65 looks like a good bet. In the previous 10 encounters, eight of them have seen both United and Liverpool find the net, so lets back history here. This could be a cagey game given it is still early in the season, and Under 2.5 goals at 1.85 is another interesting bet.

Now, moving on to the North London derby at the Emirates, where Arsenal take on Tottenham. The visitors have been busy reinforcing with the imminent departure of Gareth Bale, and they have done quite well in the transfer market. However, the Gunners have shown time and again that one can’t discount them.

Arsene Wenger has re-signed Mathieu Flamini and the Frenchman brings him some valuable Premier League experience. They have bounced back well after the opening day defeat to Villa, with away and home wins against Fenerbahce, and a victory against Fulham squeezed between those.

Arsenal have been traditionally strong at home against their neighbours losing just once in the last 10 meetings between the two. However, they will miss out on Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta and Lukas Podolski who are all injured for this encounter.

Given that an Arsenal win pays out as little as 2.00, they might not really be worth the gamble. Instead we will favour Tottenham to win at 3.50. They are the form team and while the Europa League game on Thursday could have tired them, given that it was at home it won’t be as big a factor.

Over 2.5 goals at 1.65 is also a good call given that these derbies tend to produce a fair share of goals of late, and nine of the last 10 games in the league have had a similar outcome.

So, that’s it from our end for this week. Good luck and here are the picks for Super Sunday once again –

Liverpool v Manchester United – Both Teams to Score + Under 2.5 goals

Arsenal v Tottenham – Spurs to win + Over 2.5 goals
