Premier League Betting: Manchester faces off

Premier League leaders Manchester United face defending champions Manchester City for the first time this season at the Etihad on Sunday. With the blue half of Manchester coming out on top last season, can they produce a repeat performance and move level at the top with their rivals?

City are still unbeaten this season, but were held to a disappointing draw last weekend at home to Everton. The reigning Premier League champions will be hoping to put a dismal show in Europe behind them, having been eliminated from the Champions League and failing to secure a spot to drop down into the Europa League.

Meanwhile, United are on a run of three straight wins in the league, and make the short journey to the Etihad after an incredible game at the Madejski Stadium. Sir Alex Ferguson will hope to sort out his side’s defensive problems, but will hope the likes of Robin Van Persie can produce the goals.

Ferguson has stoked the fire ahead of the game, claiming: “If we got that number of penalty kicks there’d be an inquiry in the House of Commons”. The United boss was referring to City’s 20 Premier League spot-kicks at home since the start of the 2010-11 season, compared to 13 for his side.

Slightly risky to go on history, this clash promises to be a thrilling encounter with plenty of drama. City have won the last two league meetings, but lost in both the FA Cup and Community Shield meetings last season. United’s last league win away at their city rivals was back in April 2010.

Manchester City – 2.20 | Draw -3.50 | Manchester United – 3.00 |
