European Football Preview: Barca, Bayern and PSG lead the way

There’s plenty of action across Europe this weekend, as the giants of European football in Spain, Germany and France all hope to move away at the top of the table. With a relatively successful Champions League week behind them, who will be celebrating come Sunday night?

German Bundesliga

| Freiburg – 5.50 | Draw – 3.75 | Dortmund – 1.60 |

Despite their thrilling 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night, Dortmund have struggled domestically in their search for a third successive league title. Jurgen Klopp’s men are 12 points off the pace, and have won just once in their last five games. While their opponents Freiburg have won their last two, they haven’t beaten Dortmund since May 2010, their only win in the last ten years.

| Bayern – 1.22 | Draw – 6.00 | Leverkusen – 11.00 |

Bayern have been simply unstoppable so far this season in the Bundesliga, storming to eight wins and a goal difference of +24. They have scored seven more goals than the next best strikeforce, and have conceded just two goals. However, they do face a difficult task this weekend when they host fifth placed Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena to whom they lost in the away fixture last season.

Spanish Liga Primera

| Rayo Vallecano – 11.00 | Draw – 6.00 | Barcelona – 1.22 |

Barcelona left it very late on Tuesday night, as they came from behind to defeat Celtic in the Champions League. A last gasp Jordi Alba goal secured all three points, but the Catalans will be hoping for a simpler task on Saturday. Heading into the weekend joint top of the standings, they travel to Rayo Vallecano, while nearest rivals Atletico Madrid are in action on Sunday. Lionel Messi is at 3.00 to be first goalscorer.

| Mallorca – 8.00 | Draw – 5.00 | Real Madrid – 1.33 |

Real Madrid aren’t enjoying the greatest start to the season, and their misery was compounded by defeat against Dortmund in mid-week. The defending league champions are eight points off the pace and will now have to heavily rely on rivals Barcelona dropping points. However, they head to Mallorca focused on returning home with all three points. Los Blancos have won five of the last six meetings between the two.

French Ligue 1

| Nancy – 7.50 | Draw – 4.00 | PSG – 1.45 |

PSG have shaken off their early stuttering form, with four wins in the last five propelling them to the top of the table. They remain level on points with Marseille, but travel to bottom of the table Nancy this weekend. The Ligue 1 strugglers ended a run of six straight defeats with a draw last weekend and will be buoyed by their double win over the capital club last season. Top goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic is at 3.50 to get the scoring underway.

| Marseille 2.15 | Draw – 3.10 | Lyon – 3.50 |

In the pick of the fixtures from France this weekend, second placed Marseille play host to third placed Lyon. L’OM are still reeling after striker Andre-Pierre Gignac was sidelined with a foot fracture, and fell to a shock defeat at struggling Troyes last weekend. In contrast, Lyon have lost just once this season and haven’t lost in their last four league meetings with Marseille.
