Champions League Preview: Champions collide at the Etihad

Champions League action on Wednesday night sees Premier League champions Manchester City take on Dortmund at the Etihad, with both sides knowing the importance of a win. Arsenal entertain Olympiakos looking to make it two wins in two while there is plenty of action to look forward to across Europe.

In the early kick-off, Milan travel to Russia hoping to gain a confidence boosting win against Zenit. The Russian side are currently embroiled in in-house bickering following the arrival of Hulk and Axel Witsel, and have seen their league form falter. The Rossoneri have troubles of their own but have shown a recent improvement, the draw is at 3.25. Spearheading their attacking threat, will be 19 year old Stephan El Shaarawy who has four goals in his last three games, and is at 8.00 to open the scoring.

Manchester City were left heartbroken in Madrid a fortnight ago, surrendering the lead twice en route to a 3-2 defeat against Real Madrid. They will be eager to avoid such repeats when they host Dortmund, after the Bundesliga champions snatched a late victory against Ajax. City will be wary of Jurgen Klopp’s men, should they lose they would start to lose ground in the race for qualification. City are at 1.80 to claim the three points.

In contrast, Arsenal got off to the perfect start with victory at Montpellier. They go in search of a second win when Olympiakos visit the Emirates, with the two sides having met this time last season. Form suggests a win for the Gunners, with the team playing at home winning on the last four occasions these two have met. Arsene Wenger’s men are at 1.35 to win, with Lukas Podolski favourite to be first goalscorer at 4.50.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid travel to Ajax in a clash of champions as Group D begins to take shape, with Jose Mourinho’s men at 1.42, while PSG hope to cement their place at the top of Group A with a win at Porto at 3.00.
