European Football Betting Preview

With the mid-week European action over, all eyes return to domestic matters as we take a look around Europe this weekend. There is a Super Sunday for Premier League fans, plus several intriguing clashes in Spain, Italy and Germany.

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday afternoon, looking to bounce back from the disappointment of surrendering a two-goal lead against Juventus. The Blues’ welcome Stoke to Stamford Bridge and are strong favourites at 1.33 to secure all three points.

Southampton remain the only side in the Premier League without a point after four games, and they will be desperate to get off the mark when Aston Villa visit St. Mary’s. Villa have picked up four points in their last two games as they look to have shaken off their slow start, but it’s the home side who are slight favourites to win at 2.40.

Sunday sees two fascinating clashes, starting with the lunchtime kick-off at Anfield between Liverpool and Manchester United. United have bounced back from their opening week defeat at Everton with three consecutive wins, while their Merseyside rivals will be buoyed by their five goals in Europe on Thursday night. With Rooney still sidelined, it will be up to Robin Van Persie to deliver, and the Red Devils’ are at 2.50 to grab a win.

From Anfield to the Etihad, as the second part of Super Sunday sees Arsenal attempt to defeat defending champions Manchester City. These two provided an enthralling game in the corresponding fixture last season, with City edging it 1-0. Can the Gunners continue their fine start to the season or will their unbeaten run end? Mancini’s men are 1.75 to secure victory.

Rest of Europe

The pick of the round in the Bundesliga comes courtesy of Bayern Munich’s trip to Schalke. The Bavarians added a Champions League win over Valencia to their perfect start to the season, and will be hoping for a fourth consecutive league win. Schalke are unbeaten with seven points from their three games, but are outsiders with Bayern favourites at 1.90. It promises to be an intense 90 minutes, with a draw at 3.50 worth a look.

PSG have started to pick up the pace in Ligue 1, and the capital club will be in search of a third straight victory when they travel to Bastia. Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t stopped scoring since he arrived at the Parc des Princes, and the big Swede is at 4.50 to be first goalscorer with PSG at 1.60 to win.

Over in Italy, there is real pressure on Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri to secure a result this weekend, as his side head to Udinese. The Rossoneri have failed to score in their last three home games, and reports claim this could be make-or-break for Allegri. Milan are at 2.50 to win, and they will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s outcome as they battled to a 2-1 victory.

Finally, in Spain, following their dramatic win over Manchester City on Tuesday night, Real Madrid will hope to improve their domestic form as they take on Rayo Vallecano away from home. Los Blancos are already eight points behind rivals Barcelona, so they will be keen to avoid any more slip-ups, they are at 1.30 to get just their second win of the season.
