Champions League Preview

It’s the final round of qualifiers for the Champions League, with several big European clubs hoping to reach the group stages. There are some intriguing clashes to look forward to, with Celtic the only British representative in action.

On Tuesday night, Turkish giants and league runners-up Fenerbahce travel to Russia to take on Spartak Moscow. Fener started their league campaign with a disappointing draw on the weekend, but have found a real goal-scorer in Dirk Kuyt. The Dutchman already has four goals in four games, and his side are at 4.00 to come away with a win.

Elsewhere, Celtic travel to Sweden as they take on Helsingborg. The Hoops are strong favourites for the SPL title with the enforced absence of Rangers, but will be aiming for an extended European adventure too. Also in action are 2011 Ligue 1 winners Lille, as they take on another Scandinavian side in the form of Copenhagen. No longer able to rely on the likes of Joe Cole and Edin Hazard, the French side are still favourites for the game at 2.20.

Wednesday night sees Udinese take on Braga, in a battle between two sides who both finished third in their respective leagues last season. The Serie A outfit have sold a number of key players again this summer, but with captain Antonio Di Natale leading the line, they have big hopes of reaching the Champions League proper. They fell at this stage last year at the hands of Arsenal, and they are 3.25 outsiders to return to Italy with a win.

Despite off-field distractions, Malaga started their La Liga campaign with a narrow 1-0 win away at Celta Vigo on the weekend. The Spanish side have also sold several key players this summer due to ongoing financial issues, but will be hopeful of securing qualification to the Champions League. They face Greek side Panathinaikos, and are at 4.75 to win by two goals.
